From part-time waiter to Employee of the Year!
When Alex Rumble took a part-time job at the hotel he had little idea that it would lead to a long-term career. However, just over a year since being appointed the hotel's Conference & Banqueting Supervisor he has been named Employee of the Year.
Alex, who comes from Eastbourne wanted to move back to his hometown after studying music and business studies at Sussex University and was originally looking for casual work. But he enjoyed the job so much that when a permanent position became available he put his name forward.
Alex assists his managers with large conferences and banqueting events and is responsible for the running of weddings, private dining and other events with up to 50 guests. He also helps out in the Garden Restaurant and Bar if needed.
Members of staff are nominated for the annual award by their department heads and Alex won a two-night stay in a UK Pride of Britain Hotel or Small Luxury Hotel of the Year of his choice.
On winning the award Alex said ' As I have been at the hotel for a relatively short time I did not expect it at all and it was a great surprise'
Outside of work Alex is a keen tennis, squash and golf player and also plays in local band Hero.
Well done Alex..... very well deserved!
