By All Accounts Susan Is A Winner
Senior accounts assistant Susan Rakha has been named Employer of the Year 2007 at Eastbourne’s five-star Grand Hotel.
Susan joined the hotel ten years ago after working in the accounts departments of various firms in the town, including the former building firm Llewellyn’s. At the Grand her responsibilities include wages, purchase ledgers and banking.
Members of staff at the hotel are nominated for awards by their department heads and Susan was delighted to hear she had won the top annual honour. She won a two-night stay at a London hotel, with a night out at the theatre, and was presented with her award by Grand Hotel General Manager Jonathan Webley.
Runner-up was Edward Young, who works in the hotel kitchen and won a two-night stay at one of the Grand’s sister hotels owned by Elite Hotels.
The 2007 Leader of the Year award went to Sous Chef Hrvoje Loncarevic who won an overnight stay at a London hotel. All heads of department were eligible for the award and Hrvoje was chosen for his leadership and motivational skills.
Edward Young, who works in the hotel kitchen, was named Employee of the Season, an award given out four times a year, and won an overnight stay in an Elite hotel.
Mr Webley said: “The Grand Hotel has won many tourism industry accolades over the years and all of these awards are due to team work and the ongoing commitment of the members of staff, which is why we like to reward them with our own internal awards.”
