The Grand Hotel lounges have been a centre of social activity since the hotel was built in 1875.

The BBC chose the Great Hall for their weekly broadcast ‘Grand Hotel’ featuring the hotel’s orchestra before the Second World War – the acoustics were said to be unmatched.
