Eastbourne lights up for Christmas
Eastbourne is well known as a great summer holiday destination but visiting this seaside resort is definitely not just a summertime treat. This December there are events and festivities galore for visitors to the town and guests staying here at The Grand.
The popular Neon Noel Luminale starts on 1 December with three animated light shows to music every weekend until 17 December. There are also vintage bus rides around the town and Little Christmas with market stalls, food and entertainment on Little Chelsea.
At Drusillas, families can visit the Winter Wonderland Illuminations from 18 November – 1 January with a magical ice-capped kingdom with 50,000 lights animated to music. Children can also meet Santa’s reindeer and cuddle a husky in the run-up to Christmas.
If you fancy a bit of festive shopping, the traditional Christmas Market will be offering wonderful gifts, mulled wine and festive food from 9-17 December.
New for 2017 is the Reindeer Rush on 9 December where runners, wearing antlers, will run a fun festive 5k route across Hampden Park with inflatable obstacles – great fun for both runners and spectators.
On Christmas Day, the Eastbourne Silver Band performs the biggest free Christmas Day concert in the UK with traditional carols and festive tunes at 10.30am. There are also free concerts on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day if you’re planning on spending the Christmas period here in Eastbourne
And of course, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to a pantomime. Guests visit Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre where Tod Carty (Eastenders) will be leading the cast of Dick Whittington.
With so much festive fun, together with the beautiful seafront and luxurious surroundings of The Grand, Eastbourne will truly get visitors into the Christmas spirit this year.
Here at The Grand we’re offering two nights for the price of one throughout December and we’ll also welcome you back from your festive activity with a delicious bowl of hearty homemade soup and a warm savoury platter; plus, there’ll be a bottle of wine waiting in your room on arrival.
